Volunteers at an aid station on race day

Why do it

Come and be
part of it

Races like this do not happen without a community coming together to build something and look after the people running it.

It is a good day out. You will meet people who love the same trails you do, you will make a lot of very grateful runners very happy, and you will have done something real for your community.

You do not need to be a runner. You do not need experience. You need to be up for a day outside and happy to cheer.

Deb Kershaw, Volunteer Coordinator

Your coordinator

Deb Kershaw

Deb has stepped into the role of Volunteer Coordinator again for 2027 and we are grateful to have her.

She has years of experience coordinating volunteers for 5 Peaks and Rivers Edge Ultra, plus crewing trail races across Alberta. Most recently you will recognise her from Bar-Ka-Koo, where she checked in racers and handled timing.

Deb loves being out on the trails — running, hiking, or on her fatbike. She spends her summers camping and making day trips to the mountains, Folding Mountain among her favourite hikes. In 2025 she made a habit of signing up for inaugural races, and carried it into 2026 by stepping up as Volunteer Coordinator for the first FMU.

Reach Deb directly at volunteers@foldingmountainultra.com or text 780 934 6473 and she will get you set up with a shift.
